What is this Journal about?

This Journal consists of a short list of frequently asked questions, questions asked by friends, watchers, acquaintances, and just random visitors.

Why am I reading this page?

If this Journal hasn't landed in your inbox, you might have been linked to it by the Master Planner, who tired of answering your same dumbass questions repeatedly and linked you to her Official FAQ Journal.

Did you make the plushies yourself?

Of course I did. All my shitty fanart is produced by my own two hands. I know dA has a problem enforcing their anti-theft policies, but I know it would be unethical to post art on my dA gallery that I didn't make. So thanks for basically accusing me of being an art thief, farthuffer. :|

How much time does it take to complete a plushie?

About seven to fourteen days, with 4-6 hours of work each day. Some plushies, particularly those with more detail work, take longer -- up to two months in a few cases. Some take a shorter time; one of them was completed within three days, but then I was severely ill with nothing else to do.

What kind of yarn do you use?

For plushies, I typically use KnitPicks Brava Worsted yarn for the body and premium sport/fingering weight yarn for clothing, combined with various charms, beads, buttons, felt, and pipe cleaners. I favor the KnitPicks line of yarns and think that Red Heart Super Saver is the devil. I also list any other materials used in the Artist's Comments of each textile deviation.

I use Clover brand Amour hooks and safety eyes from GlassEyesOnline.

Thanks! But I can't find this stuff where I live!

Have you ever heard of this wonderful thing called "online shopping"?

Do you have a tumblr/facebook/etsy/pinterest/instagram/ravelry?

Yes, I have a tumblr. My username there is themasterplanner. I sometimes post exclusive work there, so please follow me and reblog my stuff! My tumblr is mostly fandom bullshit and discourse, but my crochet work is always tagged with "things i made."

Yes, I have an Instagram. My username there is _themasterplanner_. It's a work in progress, but I'm hoping to host all my crochet work there as well as some exclusive work and progress pictures!

Yes, I have a Twitter. My username is _themasterplanner_ there as well. I barely use it.

Yes, I have a discord username. If I know you and you ask nicely I'll give it to you.

Yes, I have a patreon. My username there is themasterplanner. I might update it more if people actually patroned.

No, I am not on Facebook or snapchat. I do not have an etsy shop, though I might change my mind someday.

My ravelry name is MasterPlanner, but I'm hardly ever there. =p

In short, deviantArt is my home. :la:

Can I share your work on other sites?

Yes, you may, as long as you include credit and a link back to the source. I like when people share my work with others. I do not like when people claim my work to be their own, or let others assume such.

If you want to share my stuff on tumblr, please reblog it from my page, don't repost.

Where does your username come from?

"The Master Planner" is actually an alias that Doctor Octopus once used. No rly. spiderfan.org/comics/reviews/s… www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq4QGk…

Why do you only do fanart?

Because I like to. I enjoy it and makes me and my watchers happy. Besides, we both know that original art, no matter how well-done, never gets as much pageviews and attention than fanart.

I just gave you a llama, give me one back?

No. Piss off. :|

Buy me a cake badge?

No. Bugger off. :|

Can you donate me points/a core membership?

I donate points when I can buy some, and I donate them to whom I wish, when I wish. Begging is undignified and unbecoming of an artist, and definitely will not incline me to help you out.

Thanks for watching me, commenting on my work, or adding my work to your favorites section!

Believe me, I sincerely appreciate every piece of feedback that I get. You are very and graciously welcome. However, one thing I do not like is people leaving me "Thanks for the fav!" messages all over my fucking homepage. I consider that spam. You only do leave me messages like "Thanks for the fav on fav.me/d1jffee " because you just want every other fucker visiting my homepage to look at your work too. I know you just want to show your gratitude, so maybe :+fav: one of my works in return, or leave me a critique or comment, or just give me a llama.

Why do you whore your art all the time?

Because deviantArt has approximately a googol of members with a googolplex of deviations between them. dA is not the Field of Dreams where if you build it they will come. You have to actually work to get yourself and your work noticed here. It's called advertising, and it's a part of capitalism. And if you have a problem with capitalism, why don't you gtfo to Cuba and see what ole Dr. Castro thinks about deviantArt?

Do you take drawing requests?

Generally I only take them if a) you're a close friend and or b) if the request makes me laugh and I deem it worthwhile to spend my time and money drawing it, having it scanned, and posting it to dA. I don't have the time or spoons these days to spend drawing your marysue, sorry. I'm not even that great at drawing.

Can you make me a plushie of this?! I don't have money to pay you, but I want it.

I can't make anybody anything for free, because yarn costs a pissload of money, shipping isn't cheap either, and the labor of love I put into it can't be free for everybody.

Occasionally, I lend my talents to dA groups I'm a member of, to crochet plushies as contest prizes. So the best way to get something for free is to watch when I offer a contest prize, enter the contest, and win. I also give out mini-plushies as prizes for kiribans, so you can also try your luck at giving me my millionth pageview or ten thousandth :+devwatch: or something.

Can you make my favorite character? I just want to see what he'd look like as a plushie!

Because of restraints on my time and money, I do not make plushies that are unlikely to sell unless he's one of my favorite characters. A friend once pointed out, however, that all my favorite characters end up as plushies some time or another. ;p

Do you take art trades?

Again, because of restraints on my time and money, I would be unlikely to finish my half in a timely manner. Because I do not want to cheat people, I do not currently accept art trade offers. If I decide I have the money and time, I will update my Journal with a notice, or make the offer myself.

Do you take commissions?

Because of restraints on my budget...of course I do! :D You can read the Master Planner's Official Commissions Journal, along with my policies on commissions, here: masterplanner.deviantart.com/j…

Do you take :points: commissions?

Can I buy groceries with :points:? Can I pay my electric bill with :points:? No? Then the answer to that question should be fucking obvious.

Do you sell your plushie patterns?

No. All of my plushie patterns and designs currently live inside my head. I may choose to sell patterns or tutorials for my smaller projects at some undisclosed future time, however there are some items that I will never offer patterns or tutorials for because they are popular and/or expensive and make up a good portion of the commissions that I receive. Letting out all my artistic secrets is like opening my wallet and inviting everybody to grab what they want from it. Remember this is a business to me, not just a hobby. These things pay my bills and one order can make the difference between making the rent on time and begging the landlady not to kick me out.

I want to make plushies just like yours, do you make tutorials?

No. There are many crocheting tutorials online, and I would be happy to point you in the right direction and answer crochet questions if you're willing to learn.

I can't believe you're an anti-SJW/conservative!

Hey, you don't have to agree with my political opinions to like my artwork. No, I will not try to convert you. No, I will not "shove my religion down your throat." I don't think I know whether you're going to Hell or not. No, I am not a homophobe or a racist, let alone a Nazi or ""alt-right."" In fact, I'm biracial and not straight. No, I don't have a gun. No, I don't care who you vote for.

Besides, I don't even like to get into political arguments. Aside from the occasional comment on a political stamp and memberships in some politically-oriented groups, I don't even like talking about politics online. I have enough sense to know that the both of us could talk until we're as blue in the face as Thrawn himself and we wouldn't change each other's minds. Especially in a hyperpartisan election cycle.

Wait, was that last bit a joke? I don't get it.

Are you the only fucker on Earth who's never heard of Google? Another thing I don't like, is having to explain any and all jokes or nerdy references I make in conversation. If you are on here speaking to me, you have the whole internet literally at your fingertips. Stop being a lazy fuck and research shit for yourself.

blah blah blah white privilege straight passing internalized misogyny :blahblah:

I have a zero tolerance policy for social justice warrior bullshit on my page, please gb2 tumblr

Why do they call him Doctor Octopus when he's got six arms?

We're counting his legs too, idiot.

How can I contact you?

Drop me a note at my dA account, drop me an ask or instant message on my Tumblr, or ask me for my personal correspondence email address or if I really like you, my Discord username.

What if I have another stupid question for you?

By all means, comment on this journal or drop me an ask on themasterplanner.tumblr.com !
